Here is an inspiring story from one of 2018’s grant winners

MISD teachers are making a difference in the lives of their students with the help of the MEF!

Grant recipient instills love of reading in Kindergartners at Price T. Young. With the help of the Marshall Education Foundation, Michelle Bruce, Kindergarten Teacher at Price T. Young, created a Listening Center in her classroom. Over the course of two years, Mrs. Bruce has been able to purchase the CD player device, three sets of headphones, and numerous sets of books. The students listen to the story and follow along in a book which helps them with word recognition, pronunciation, and develops a great foundation as the young students learn to read.

When asked about the listening center, one student replied, “We read every day and we like all the books. We like to read and it’s good to read because you can learn all the stuff and you can know everything in the whole wide world.”

The Marshall Education Foundation is excited to announce that the Spring Grant Application is now open. Up to $5,000 will be given to each of the following content areas: Math, Science, ELA, CTE, Fine Arts, History, and Physical Education.  For a maximum giveaway of $35,000!  Grants can be awarded as a group or to individual teachers.  Put your thinking caps on and let us know what you need to finish the year strong!
